Online conferences : 9-10 December 2020
"Building on a lifelong involvement for the protection of nature and an on-going engagement to restore it whenever possible, I have envisioned Luma Arles at the Parc des Ateliers as a place of creative and sustainable development that encourages free expression and actions that address and contribute to the common good."
Maja Hoffmann, December 2019
The Luma Eco Days aims to bring together in Arles once a year, local and international experts to discuss ecological and economic issues with conferences, workshops and convivial moments.
During the first edition, in December 2019, experts and different stakeholders were invited to think and work together on a common agenda around waste and energy.
For this second edition entitled Building with Nature the Luma Eco Days are holding two different events : the Algae Summit, directly accessible to all on the Luma Arles site, and the New practices in building, open by registration.

Why this thematic?
Within Atelier Luma, the
Algae Platform project engages the potential of algae into the design
of bio-materials, researches alternatives for architecture and proposes new
circular production circuits. The Algae Platform encourages interdisciplinary
exchanges, stimulates new research perspectives and brings out new application
scenarios in a global context. The results of their research are gathered in a
publication, the
Algae Review, which can be downloaded online.
Thursday 10th December, 2.00 pm - 6.00 pm (on registration)
This series of conferences will focus on the New practices in building in order to question the global approach to sustainable development in this industry.

Why this thematic?
In the face of climate and environmental impacts,
all players in the building industry must deepen an inter-professional
dialogue in order to trace the shortest path towards the resilience of
our cities and countryside. The future environmental regulation of new
buildings will be a structuring step towards low carbon and energy buildings,
which will mark a major change by setting, for the first time, a target for
reducing greenhouse gas emissions in construction, and thus putting the fight
against global warming at the forefront.
